The Inn Doubles Down on COVID-19
Our DOUBLE DOWN Covid-19 policies will make you feel at home when you visit the Inn.
Beginning September 22, 2021, the Province of Ontario is mandating a “vaccine passport”. To dine in our restaurant, attend a meeting or event in The Pavilion Event and Conference Centre, or to enter the pools or fitness centre, you will need to provide ID and proof of full vaccination (completed 14 days prior to visit). This law applies to all visitors, regardless of their province of residence, who are 12 years or older. Hotel guests may stay without proof of full vaccination, but they may not use the facilities as stated above without it. Guests may still get take-out from Casey’s without providing proof of vaccination. For more information on this law, please visit the Ontario Government’s website.
We have established a vaccination policy for our team, as well, so that you can rest assured we’ve done everything we can to ensure you’ll enjoy a safe stay.
Our regular squeaky-clean premises procedures will Double Down with consistent cleaning to all touchable surfaces using our premium Ecolab sanitary and cleaning supplies. In addition, all key cards and pens are being sanitized between use at Reception, and Housekeeping is ensuring that all room surfaces get a rigorous sanitizing treatment.
In-Room Housekeeping: We removed all objects in our rooms that are unnecessary (ie: pen/paper, guest directory, etc.). Our Room Attendants have revised precautionary procedures for room cleaning, including leaving sanitizing product the proper “dwell” time to ensure disinfection. In-house rooms are cleaned once every 3 days or must request housekeeping service. We must enter long-term stay rooms at least once per 5 days to clean. Please call Reception if you require service or to arrange a cleaning time.
Enjoy a fresh, hot dine-in breakfast or Breakfast to Go in Casey’s 6:30am to 10:00am (11am weekends). Casey’s Grill and Pub is pleased to offer dine-in and take-out service to guests and the public from 4pm-10pm daily. See menus here. Our staff are Doubling Down by washing their hands after each guest transaction, sanitizing tables, and ensuring that we meet or exceed all Algoma Public Health standards and regulations. Tables are well-spaced, providing for a 2m distance between guests. Please note, you will be required to complete a Self-assessment prior to entering, and you must provide ID and proof of full vaccination for sit-down dining.
Pool, Whirlpools and Fitness Centre
The pools and whirlpools are open 7am to 12pm and 4pm to 10pm daily. Guests can schedule pool time at check-in. Pool reservations begin on the hour and last 50 minutes. The sauna is open with a maximum occupancy of two people or one family. Our team regularly sanitizes touchpoints, and manages occupancy in order to allow for physical distancing. Guests must sign in and out. We remind all pool users that physical distancing is required at all times while using the facilities, and that masks are required when entering and exiting. Proof of full vaccination and ID is required with each visit. Members must also self-assess for Covid-19 symptoms and complete a declaration with each visit.
Our guest greeting and appreciation policies, which are normally animated by hand shakes and pats on the back, are now distanced by 2m. Please note that masks are mandatory in indoor public spaces in the district of Algoma. We’ll Double Down on the warmth and courtesy of our hospitality so you feel welcome.
We request you Double Down, too!
We have posted signage and request that all guests please do a self-assessment before entering our premises. If you have a fever, or are experiencing a cough or shortness of breath, please do not enter. We have hand sanitizer available for guest use upon entry to the Inn. Our staff and other guests appreciate your consideration. You must wear a mask while in any public area at the Inn.
At The Water Tower Inn, we believe prudence and adopting a Double-Down attitude and practices will get us through this period of stress as positive and informed public.
Testimonial on our Double-Down Policies
I rarely complete reviews, but I feel that your hotel staff were excellent. We were travelling home during this Covid-19 crisis and needed a place to stay to take a break from driving. Your host was welcoming and professional. There was great signage and clearly visible instructions on not only what you were doing, but what i was to do in handling myself as a customer. The rate was fair and the host was obviously caring in her description of where and how to park, and gave us a room close to our car to ease with my family getting in and out. The atmosphere was ghost-like, but very clean. The cleaning staff was in the area both at night & in the morning cleaning high traffic areas and the hotel. The room was as expected, clean and everything worked. My kids downloaded movies for the next days trip using the wifi and my wife enjoyed a clean shower. The next day the staff was personable, and we were given a bagged breakfast for the road. They clearly cared for their customers which I greatly appreciated in a time where corporate banality is the norm. I like that the hotel is a unique example of the hard-working, thoughtful and caring people who own and run it. I chose to stay there because I had once stayed there as a motorcyclist where I too was given personal attention. Thanks & I hope all your employees return once this crisis is over as I’m sure they have a good employer. Mark Klunder Georgian Bluffs, ON
